The Dangers of Surfing

You’d think that out of all sports, surfing would be one that would be among the least dangerous. After all, the person who is surfing is constantly surrounded by water that would surely cushion the fall and prevent any injury. But of course, the surfers all not just standing still on a board. They are being propelled forwards in the water by a huge volume of water that will inevitable crash down on them at some point unless they are More

MOVIES WE DON’T CARE ABOUT

MOVIES WE DON'T CARE ABOUT

Majority of the films we see in US cinema are commercial nonsense. Come to think of it, in recent years I cant seem to catch a movie name that will talked about in the future. They all seemed to gain the chase the challenge of who would create the best visual or sound effects or maybe even the best story but execute it in a shameful fashion. Except for names like ’Inception’, ’Harry Brown'and ’The Departed'I don’t really enjoy watch movies in theatres these days.
This is where my sister came to the rescue, being a student of film in Kingston University, her world of movies expanded beyond US commercial films. Foreign films are far ahead of commercial cinema. Movies like ’City of God’, ’Mugabe and the White African’, ’Lady with Dragon Tattoo'and ’The Lives of Others'took me into a movie trip I had never experienced before. If you find yourself in the same position as I am in, turn of tele and go online to your nearest computer look for foreign movies and try to watch them without any prejudices and prejudgements. You’ll find yourself impressed by the movie market available out there rather than what we only see on movie channels. Trust me it the effort you’d want to make. How do get started and how do you make sure your watching the right stuff? Approach a friend taking part in a acting course or with Soft skills training, preferably theatre. These are the people who are exposed to best of film and theatre acting that can make you shake with disbelief.
The most notable film that I watched last year would be ’The Lives of Others’. Even though it is a slow film, the patients it worth while, the acting is pure and natural, unlike the “in your face"American movie style of acting. It touches upon the topic where artists in Germany after World War were under watch as they were the ones who could break or create uprisings against the Country. The shear honestly and solid acting performance keeps your eyes glued until the very end of the film. So keep your eyes open, try to find something that can amaze you.

Movie Review: In Bruges

posted by admin in Uncategorized

In Bruges didn’t interest me at all when I first heard about it. I’d had a bad run of DVD buys – all films which I had heard were not bad but were actually terrible – and the last thing I needed to do was buy another; especially one trying to be some kind of funny gangster film. No, I decided that I needed to start buying DVDs that were good again, so I headed out and bought ones I’d More

Kingdom of Heaven

Kingdom of Heaven is one of those movies that a person should see -a true story, a movie displaying the raw history of our civilization and an image of how noble men can be, how tolerant people can get, how mutual understanding is key for the peace and how deception and greed are the roots of war. A truelly brilliant movie by the director of ’The Gladiator’, this is a must-see masterpiece with the meaning of our existance embodied in More

Robin Hood (2010)

Yet another Robin Hood film has graced the silver screen this year, this one directed by Ridley Scott and starring Russell Crowe and Cate Blanchett. The film contains plenty of the elements that we are used to in Scott movies and they show just why Ridley Scott is such a good director and that he has lost none of his eye for detail and breathtaking landscapes. Somehow he manages to make even the poor town of Nottingham look magnificent.

‘Hell In The Pacific’ - Film Review.

posted by admin in Uncategorized

A few weeks ago, they put an absolute gem of a film on television (I have to admit now that it completely distracted me from my work from home jobs). John Boorman’s ‘Hell in the Pacific’ may now be forty-four years old, but it is still a milestone in cinema. It stars Lee Marvin and Toshiro Mifune as two soldiers from opposing sides who find themselves marooned on a remote island.

There is very little dialogue throughout the whole More

'The Messengers' - NOT a New Experience in Terror...

What is it with horror movies? They have been making them for donkey’s years but so many of them are still so damn corny. If you don’t agree, then have a look at some of the tosh on ‘Zone Horror’; you’ll soon come round to my way of thinking.

The other night I sat and watched, ‘The Messengers’. ‘Oooo, this looks good!’, I thought as I watched the Tim Burton-esque opening sequence. However, apart from some really nice photography, the More
